Our Carmine Jewel Liqueur is made from Saskatchewan-grown organic carmine jewel dwarf sour cherries. This cultivar ripens to an almost black colour and was developed at the University of Saskatchewan. The carmine jewel has proven exceptionally cold tolerant and drought resistant. Even though it is one tough plant, it produces an exceptional fruit.
Handcrafted in small batches, our Carmine Jewel Liqueur follows age-old European traditions, so our recipe showcases the amazing flavour of the carmine jewel without using an overpowering amount of sugar. In fact she is even a tad tart. Being purists, we don't include any additives, preservatives, or water in our liqueurs. For every bottle we use about 2 lbs. of cherries.
