Our Seabuckthorn & Wildflower Honey Liqueur is made from Saskatchewan Seabuckthorn berries. This tree is native to northern climates and has been used in shelter-belts around Saskatchewan since the 1940's. The tree produces a cluster of little orange berries which are considered a super food because they are rich in Vitamin C. Because of the high amounts of Vitamin C, the berries are extremely tart, so we round it out with some Saskatchewan wildflower honey.
The taste of this berry is difficult to describe and very complex. It is sometimes called the Siberian Pineapple and most will agree there is some tropical flavour, but there is so much more.
Handcrafted in small batches, our Seabuckthorn & Wildflower Honey Liqueur follows age old European traditions. The recipe shows off the amazing flavour of the Seabuckthorn berries without overpowering them with an abundance of sugar, and the honey rounds off the tartness and balances the liqueur nicely. Being purists, we don't add any preservatives, additives, or water to our liqueurs. For every bottle we use about 3 lbs. of Seabuckthorn berries.
